Progress in Women's Liberation by Esperanza Dowling Manager, Ginhawa Wellness Center, Earthlite Alternative Place This article was published in Earthlite Sparks & Reflections on March 11, 2000 “HOW far have the women gone in asserting their role in moving the world to peace and harmony? What gaps have been bridged, what have remained? Some women have risen to new heights and they should continue moving to inspire and really help others, but the rest have remained, especially in Third World countries, and need new policies, new systems and structures, and new relationships to raise themselves significantly. What is encouraging here is that many men have responded by studying the women’s issues, like stereotyping of roles, etc., and acknowledged these issues as their own. In holistic health, women have had the advantage of being able to release their emotional tensions, like weeping when they feel the need to, and this makes for better overall health. The men have now gradually removed their self-imposed blocks to their own use of that. They are now developing their capability to face, understand and care for their own emotions, which form part of their health in the holistic way. |
